Cameron corner - nye 2014
This was another big tick off the bucket list of things to do, Cameron Corner for New Years Eve. Cameron Corner is located at the border of NSW, SA & QLD. This unique location means that we were able to celebrate NYE three times due to the differing time zones! Firstly in NSW, then South Australia and finally Queensland.
We left home on boxing day and our itinerary was as follows:
-Dubbo
-White Cliffs
-Broken Hill / Silverton (2 nights)
-Tibooburra
-Cameron Corner
-Bourke
-Lightning Ridge
This was our first big trip in the new car and we were very impressed with how it handled and most importantly, the fuel economy and savings. Kylie & Ben took our old car and Mark & Virginia and their kids were with us in their car as well.
We were very lucky with the weather, no rain and temperatures weren't that hot at all. They were 40 degrees and above every day, but there isn't the same humidity as you get at home, so didn't feel as hot. Temperatures at Tibooburra and Cameron Corner were only mid 40's, which was a lot better than the 50 degree heat we were told to expect! And surprisingly , the flies weren't bad at all, maybe it was too hot for them! Every one knows that you don't head into Outback Australia during the summer months, but this was totally worth it for the experience and we will do it again at some point, maybe every 10 years!
