Eyre Peninsula, SA (19 December 2020 - 9 January 2021)
After a year of trips being canceled due to Covid, we were glad we were actually able to get away at all over Christmas! With rules and regulations changing so quickly, as it turned out, we ended up crossing the border into SA only hours before they declared a hard border lockdown from NSW!
We split our trip up staying at Streaky Bay and Whyalla and spent our days exploring all the surrounding areas ..... until the engine blew in the Prado, that wasn't a fun day! But up until that point we had a great time and although an unfortunate, uncertain and expensive event, we were lucky with all the people we had around us who helped us out. Whilst stranded in Whyalla we were even given a car by the local mechanic to drive around in free of charge, so we were still able to explore the area and make the most of a bad situation. Eventually we were able to get our Prado and camper towed to a mechanic in Adelaide and we got a hire car to drive home in. Not the way we expected our trip to end up, but what can you do!
Apart from the dramas, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, the whole of the Eyre Peninsula is spectacular and a place everyone should take the time to visit and enjoy.
