Lithgow (19.07.15)
We headed out with our mate Jason and the guys from the Toyota Prado 90 Series group. This was the first time we'd met anyone from the group and can say we were very impressed with how well run the day was. You never know what to expect when you get a group of 4WD's together, but we had a great day and the trip leaders did a great job. It was an early (and cold!) start to meet up with Jason and some others to make the very wet drive out to Lithgow, where we met the rest of the group. We drove up via the Great Western Highway as Bells Line of Road had been closed the previous days due to snow and ice. We drove through a lot of snow as we headed through the mountains, not something we get to see too often. Luckily we didn't encounter any black ice, which was good!
We met the rest of the group at Lithgow and split into two groups to head off for the day. We headed up the highway and into the Lidsdale State Forest. We spent the day exploring the forest and surrounding area, including Marrangaroo National Park, including a couple of crossings of the Cox's River. Original intentions were to visit Mt Walker, but with the previous couple of day's weather, it was just too wet to even try it.
