Weekend away - Stockton Beach & Watagans (08.07.2017 - 09.07.2017)
A weekend away with friends, starting with a day on Stockton Beach on Saturday, followed by a group dinner and night in a hotel. Sunday saw us head into the Watagan State Forest for a day on the tracks.
An eventful weekend with some mechanical work undertaken on Stockton Beach to fix the 4WD gear shifter in the Prado, an unfortunate encounter with a mud hole in the Watagans and later on a night of dead ends, recoveries and mud as we got stuck in the Watagans for hours in the dark! Every track either went nowhere or was wet, slippery and full of mud holes. We slid into a rock wall and scrapped the whole side of the 4WD down the wall, the snatch straps got a good workout and we were all covered in mud. You can imagine how we felt when we got to the end of one of these tracks to find we were surrounded by not only mud, but a whole lake ..... and the remnants of the bridge that used to cross this lake! We were only about 1km from the main road! So around we turned and headed back up that nightmare track! Eventually made it out relatively unscathed and all have a great story to tell!
