Today saw us head off to the Lakefield National Park, such a beautiful place. The scenery is different to what we've seen so far and very differing as you drive through. We drove through a huge open flat plain, scattered with a few trees and lots of huge termite mounds. Flat open land as far as the eye can see, and then all of a sudden you head into another woodland. There are numerous waterholes around filled with wildlife and beautiful water lillies. These waterholes fill up in the wet season and during the dry season, as things dry up, these waterholes and billabongs become a much needed water source for the wildlife. Lots of different birds around and saw a lone emu cross the road in front of us. Barely saw a car during our whole days driving. Tonight we took a walk down to the causeway to view the Normanby River and saw our first ever crocodile in the wild! He wasn't a baby either, he was a huge 4 meter saltwater crocodile sitting on the bank opposite us!
