The Lions Den Hotel was built in 1875 on the banks of the Little Annan River, surrounded by 100 year old mango trees and tropical landscapes. It is a landmark hotel made of timber and iron, famous for its quirky decorations and walls adorned with visitor’s signatures. it's probably the most famous pub on the Cape York peninsula.
Had a great stay at the Lions Den, the safari tents were great and something a bit different, also nice to have another break from putting up the tents. Yesterday we took a walk around the grounds and down to the river, which was quite pretty. These beautiful flowers were out and on full display in the bar area, the colour was amazing. We found out that they are called the Green Jade Flower and grow on vines. Apparently they are endangered flowers from the Phillipines and very hard to grow. How beautiful are these! Can't visit without having a drink at the Lions Den Hotel, and why not have dinner too! It was a good meal A bit of information about the place and the history. Amongst other quirky things up around the place, found these signs which gave us a laugh. Might start running these causes back in Sydney!
